Abstract
In this contribution the auctor focuses his attention on the legal meaning of time in the Archaic age. In particular, as, in the Pontiffs’ thought, only acts respectful of ritual rules, namely including certa verba and certa gesta, could be legally relevant, the author asserts that the possible absence or deminutio of such verba and gesta could be made up for only through the passing of a specific time (auctio), which should however be considered as element of a ritual act in a wide sense.
