Abstract
Starting from Stefano Liva’s book on the remedies and sanctions against dilatory appeals in the Roman legal experience, some issues are addressed which have a non-secondary importance in the book’s economy and, moreover, some ideas suggested by its reading are developed, as, in a comparative key, the problem of the ‘filter’ in the appeal.
