Abstract
The affirmation of the political and legal principle of ‘solidarity’ followed a tormented path, and found special acceptance in France during the 19th century. At the end of the century, it was used by Léon Bourgois to found radical ideology, and to gain support from the electorate. On the basis of the political success of his ideas Bougeois became prime minister and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1920. Founder of the League of Nations, through legal arguments – which the A. examines in their fragility – he theorised the solidarity bond of each individual in the society in which he operated.
