Abstract
The famous Pandectist K.A.v. Vangerow devised a splendid library but nearly no papers such as drafts or letters. An explanation can be found in his will and other contemporary documents: fatally ill, Vangerow ordered a complete destruction for reasons that are not completely clear. The lacuna probably can’t be filled in by other sources.
